After Thanksgiving Rush

Call me crazy but I LOVE AFTER THANKSGIVING SALES! There is nothing like getting up early in the morning (3:30am this year) and rushing out the door to be with the thousands of shoppers doing the same thing. You can cut the excitement in the air when you head into a store. The Christmas music is always blaring on the loud speaker. Everyone shoving each other back and forth. You stand in line for two hours to buy the next electronic item that just came out and at the same time you get to meet your neighbors that you didn't even know you had.

This year, I went to the Thanksgiving Day sale at CompUSA. It began at 9pm. There wasn't anything I really needed. I just wanted to go and enjoy the excitement. I was number 81 in a line of about 300 when the doors opened. At nine, the doors opened and all 300 ran to the door pushing to get in. What a sight! They were giving away $200 laptops - just eight for 300 people! Call me crazy but it has been a tradition! I look forward to every Thanksgiving getting the newspaper and pouring over every sales paper to get the great sales for the next day.

While standing in line as well as in the place where we want to plant Paramount Church, the verse out of Isaiah came to mind:
Isaiah 55
Invitation to the Thirsty
1 "Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.

Everyone likes a bargain. And if it is free, people like it a whole lot better. I pray Sundays at Paramount Church will be like an After Thanksgiving Day sale. My prayer is that people will be excited and ready to enjoy others while enjoying the Gospel at no charge! They would come from the North, South, East, and West and fill any and every place we have ready to worship and receive a Word from the Lord. And finally, everyone will leave with something that will change their life forever.

We have a greatest thing of all. It surpasses any clothing or electronic item that ever will exist! And to add to it all, it is absolutely free!!
