The Enemy is More Scared of You!

The king of Jericho was told, “Look, some of the Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land.” So the king of Jericho sent this message to Rahab: “Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, because they have come to spy out the whole land.”
But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from. At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, they left. I don’t know which way they went. Go after them quickly. You may catch up with them.”  (But she had taken them up to the roof and hidden them under the stalks of flax she had laid out on the roof.) So the men set out in pursuit of the spies on the road that leads to the fords of the Jordan, and as soon as the pursuers had gone out, the gate was shut.
Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.  Joshua 2:2 -11

Before I go any further, let me just stop right here to go over a part of this story that could easily be read over too quickly without pondering.  Rahab told the Jewish spies great fear had fallen on them because they knew the Israelites or Jews were in the area.  On top of that, for 80 years they have been living in fear because of their reputation their God, our God, dried up the Red Sea and made a dry highway for them to escape Egypt.  For 80 years, they were living in fear of the Israelites!

For 80 years, they wandered in the desert like babies constantly being fed and protected by God.  He was their constant source to provide quail, manna, and water for them.  They fully relied on God while when they crossed the Red Sea, they could have conquered and walked right into their Promise Land.

What have you been living in fear of for 80 years?  What about 80 days?  80 months?  Believers, why do we get so afraid of the devil or enemies who prowl around trying to devour us?  Let us grasp this importance that our enemies are more scared of us than we should be of them!  Our God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a mind that is sound.  Whatever you are going through, let God arise and all of His and your enemies be scattered! Go tackle and conquer your enemy and walk right into your promised land!
