If This is Your Year to Move

God told Abram: "Leave your country, your family, and your father's home for a land that I will show you. . . . So Abram left just as God said, and Lot left with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. Abram took his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot with him, along with all the possessions and people they had gotten in Haran, and set out for the land of Canaan and arrived safe and sound.

Genesis 12:1 and 6

Sometimes in our faith, God shakes up our lives and move us. Sometimes it is across the world or country. Sometimes it is across the state or city. Sometimes it is across the room. In ministry, in careers, in society, God likes to move people not for their benefit but for His. I read a scripture in Acts I had read over and over again, but one day while I was contemplating the move and transition to Atlanta, it became vibrant and living:

"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'
Acts 17:24-28

2007 maybe the year for a shift for you. Maybe it will be in your career or you will actually be physically moving to another place you have never been before. God may stretch you this year in faith where you have never been before. He began to do this in my life in 2006 and the results were just like His Word says:

God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, thought he is not far from each one of us.

I am still strongly seeking Him. Church planting and pastoring makes you fall to your knees to seek Him for answers. But Abraham is an example to follow. No matter what God ask of you to do to stretch out and broaden, you will arrive safely on the other side! Go ahead and jump. Go ahead and believe God and know there is nothing to hard for Him!
