Phrases that have long overpaid

Sometimes the church gets stuck in a rut.  They get an idea and they run with it - for years and years and years and years.  Nothing new.  Nothing innovative.  Nothing creative.

Christmas rolls around and churches and ministries pull out the phrases that someone came up with many years ago.  Their church put them away last year after Christmas like old decorations and pulling them out again brings a sense of Christmas spirit.  They place them in bulletins, on their screens, and especially on their church sign for everyone to read while thousands of cars pass by every day.  They work with glee as they place them on they advertisements.

The phrases?  Jesus is the reason for the season and wise men still seek Him.  It is time for them to retire.  Without getting our eyes off of the reason and understanding that yes, wise men do still seek Him, the phrases are old, worn out, and overused.  Give them a break.  Allow them to go to phrase heaven.  Put them out of their misery.  Pull the plug.

Let the church rise.

Let the church creativity come up from its ashes.

Dream.

Explore.

Innovate.
