El Elyon - The Most High God

Speaking of worship and praise, we must understand who God really is. The Names of God reveal His characteristics and power. One of those names to describe God is El Elyon. El Elyon means "most high God."

David spoke of God as El Elyon when writing about Him in Psalms 91:1:

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High [El Elyon]
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty [El Shaddai].

When you see God in the Bible as one who is a high god, most High God, or most high, the writer is describing God as El Elyon.

Understanding God as the most high God is important to everyday living. Again, when we worship, we put God back on the throne and he is a "high" God. God is higher than anything.

The Bible says many times we must magnify the Lord. God changes not. In our eyes, He grows smaller as things around us get bigger. We need to magnify Him - make Him the most high God for who is really is.

Magnify Him today.

Enlarge Him in your eyes.

He is bigger than whatever you are facing right now.

Place Him back on the throne.

Magnify.

El Elyon

The Most High God.
